Manifesting Change: The Power of Surrender and Intuition
Hi there! I’m Rebecca Gillis, a transformational coach and the host of The Hell. Happiness. Repeat Podcast. Life has a funny way of surprising us, doesn’t it? Just the other day, I found myself in a whirlwind of thoughts, contemplating how I can manifest change in my life. And wouldn’t you know it, within 48 hours, I was hit with a powerful reminder: sometimes, the best way forward is to simply let go and trust in the journey.
The Magic of Surrender
Let’s be real: trying to control every aspect of our lives can feel exhausting. I reached a point where I felt like I was spinning my wheels, trying to figure it all out. Everything felt heavy and overwhelming, and I realized that maybe it was time to take a step back. At that moment, I made a conscious decision to surrender.
Surrendering doesn’t mean giving up; it means recognizing that we can’t predict or control every outcome. When I let go of that constant need for control, everything shifted. It was like opening a floodgate of intuitive thoughts and insights. Just hours later, a connection I’d made in the past reached out to me, sharing valuable resources that I hadn’t even thought I needed. A friend opened up about her journey, and suddenly, I felt inspired and guided.
This experience took me back to almost a decade ago when I stopped drinking. That was a pivotal moment for me—a massive awakening where I realized that sometimes, we need to let go of the things we think we need in order to truly find ourselves. It was through that process of surrender that I discovered my true self and what I wanted in life.
Trusting Your Intuition
Once I surrendered, I began to realize that I didn’t have to rely on anyone else’s roadmap for my life. External influences—like rigid programs, diets, and rules—are just tools we can use. They don’t define our paths. So, I started asking myself some essential questions: What do I really want? Is this thought true? Could it be possible that it’s not?
Engaging in self-inquiry allowed me to confront my feelings of dissatisfaction head-on. I took a long, hard look at my relationship with my body, my choices, and my life. It wasn’t easy; facing our truths rarely is. But shifting my mindset to one of abundance opened doors I never thought were possible.
When we approach life with gratitude and focus on solutions, everything changes. Imagine if you spent your day being grateful and looking for ways to help others instead of complaining. Don’t you think your day would unfold differently? This shift in perspective allowed me to embrace my life’s journey rather than resist it.

Breaking Old Beliefs
Let’s talk about beliefs. They can be tricky, right? So often, we hold on to beliefs that no longer serve us, thinking they define who we are. Manifestation isn’t just about wishing for something; it’s about shifting our thoughts and beliefs. It’s about moving from a mindset of problems to one of solutions and positivity. When I started to focus on what I truly wanted—what resonated with my authentic self—I felt a surge of empowerment.
I used to feel so strongly about certain concepts—like the idea of “manifestation” itself—that I would shut down at the mere mention of them. But here’s the kicker: those intense reactions often signal something deeper that needs exploring. For example, I once believed I could never eat “normally” without restrictions, which created a cycle of anxiety around food. But when I saw others overcoming similar struggles, it made me reconsider everything.
That awareness challenged my old beliefs and opened me up to new possibilities. I realized that when we dig deep and confront what’s holding us back, we can start to shift our realities. The journey toward change requires us to scrutinize those long-held beliefs that may be blocking our progress. It’s about releasing the need for perfection and embracing our imperfections.
Embracing Change and Growth
Change is a wild ride, isn’t it? It often comes with discomfort and resistance, especially when we’re trying to grow. We set intentions—like trusting ourselves around food or building healthier habits—but then, old patterns resurface, and it can feel like we’re taking two steps back. It’s easy to think we’re regressing, but that’s not necessarily true. We’re simply facing new layers of growth.
Imagine climbing a spiral staircase where old challenges come back at different levels. Each step brings an opportunity to heal and confront those old wounds. The real question is: How do we respond to these challenges?
The more we practice surrender and manifestation, the more we realize how effective they can be. Yes, fear and resistance still creep in, but now I have the tools to navigate through them. So, what if you set an intention today—no matter how small—and truly believed it was possible to manifest it?
A Journey of Discovery
At the end of the day, this journey is about discovery, not just achievement. The path ahead isn’t about reaching some distant goal; it’s about embracing each step along the way. When we allow ourselves to be vulnerable and trust our inner guidance, we create a beautiful ripple effect in our lives and the lives of those around us.
Surrendering doesn’t mean giving up; it means having the courage to let go of control and embrace the unknown. It opens up possibilities we never imagined, leading us to experiences that align with our true desires.
So, here’s my invitation to you: Embrace this journey. Trust your intuition. Allow yourself the freedom to explore, to stumble, and to rise again. Through surrender and inner guidance, you can manifest a life filled with joy and fulfillment.
And remember, the process may not always be smooth. You might encounter challenges that test your resolve, but these experiences are invaluable teachers. They help us refine our understanding of ourselves and what we truly want. Allow the lessons to unfold and guide you, and be patient with yourself as you navigate this beautiful journey of change.
So, how do we put surrender and intuition into practice? One of the best ways is to create small, intentional rituals that encourage self-reflection and mindfulness. This could be as simple as setting aside a few minutes each day to meditate, journal, or engage in activities that bring us joy and clarity.
